| The overall objective of the Web Grants Programme is to ensure that
all Midland based companies benefit from the opportunities of the emerging
Information Society. The WG programme features four key actions, each focused
on technologies, issues and objectives of strategic importance to Europe

| The focus of the WG Programme is on the future
generation of technologies in which computers and networks will be integrated
into the everyday environment, rendering accessible a multitude of services
and applications through easy-to-use interfaces. The programme builds on
Europe’s strengths in critical sectors such as mobile and fixed communications,
consumer electronics, general electronic appliances, embedded software,
micro-electronics, advanced service systems, digital broadcasting and rich
content provision.
